Greek ἐνδιδύσκουσιν (3rd plural finite verb) and Latin induunt are matched by the Syriac single inflected form ܘܐܠܒܫܘܗܝ, which incorporates both the conjunction ('and'), the verb (l-b-sh, 'to clothe'), and the 3rd-masculine-singular object suffix ('him'). The Syriac thus collapses what the Greek and Latin express analytically with a separate object pronoun.

Greek and Latin position the participle πλέξαντες / plectentes ('having twisted/plaited') after the main verb of placing, whereas the Syriac fronts ܘܓܕܠܘ (g-d-l, 'and they plaited') as a coordinate finite verb before the act of placing. Syriac favors paratactic coordinate verbs over the Greek subordinating aorist participle.
