Greek imperfect ἠρώτα ('he was asking') conveys ongoing or repeated inquiry, whereas the Vulgate aorist-like perfect interrogavit and the Syriac perfect ܘܫܐܠ render a simple completed act; the Syriac also subsumes 'and' (ܘ-) prefixed to the verb, the same form already counted for καὶ.

The Peshitta supplies an explicit independent pronoun ܗܘ ('he') to mark the subject of the verb, a feature absent from both the Greek and Latin where the 3rd-singular verb form alone suffices; this is a typical Syriac gloss for subject clarity.

Greek ἔχετε and Latin habetis use the transitive verb 'to have' with a 2nd-plural ending; the Syriac instead employs the existential particle ܐܝܬ with the dative ܠܟܘܢ ('there are to you'), a possessive idiom standard in Aramaic rather than a direct verb of possession.

The Greek articular construction οἱ δέ ('but they') and the Latin relative Qui both supply an explicit grammatical subject for the reply; the Syriac omits any separate subject marker, relying on the verbal inflection of ܐܡܪܝܢ alone, hence no token is aligned here on the Syriac side.

Greek εἶπαν and Latin dixerunt express only the act of speaking, whereas the Syriac ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ adds the dative ܠܗ ('to him'), making the indirect object of the reply explicit in conformity with Aramaic narrative style.
