Greek includes the definite article οἱ before Φαρισαῖοι, whereas both the Vulgate (pharisæi) and Peshitta (ܦܪܝܫܐ) omit any explicit article, the Semitic and Latin forms carrying definiteness inherently.

Greek ἐπηρώτων and Latin interrogabant are simple finite verbs of asking; the Peshitta renders the act with the coordinated participial ܘܡܫܐܠܝܢ ('and asking'), reflecting a periphrastic Syriac construction that strings the verbs of approaching, testing, and asking in series.

The Clementine Vulgate inserts a colon after eum to mark the onset of direct discourse; neither the Greek nor the Peshitta employs such punctuation, which is an editorial feature of the Latin transmission.

Greek γυναῖκα and Latin uxorem are general/legal terms for 'wife', while the Peshitta uses ܐܢܬܬܗ with a pronominal suffix ('his wife'), making the possessive relationship explicit where the other traditions leave it implied by the dative ἀνδρὶ/viro.

The Greek infinitive ἀπολῦσαι and Latin infinitive dimittere express 'to divorce/dismiss'; the Peshitta employs a finite subjunctive ܕܢܫܒܘܩ ('that he should release/forsake', root sh-b-q), converting the infinitival complement into a subordinate verbal clause typical of Syriac syntax.

All three attest the participle 'testing/tempting' (πειράζοντες / tentantes / ܡܢܣܝܢ), but the Peshitta places this clause earlier in the sentence, immediately after the Pharisees, whereas Greek and Latin position it at the close of the verse — a word-order divergence reflecting differing rhetorical emphasis.
