Greek uses the aorist participle ἰδών with coordinating καὶ...δέ ('and seeing now'); the Peshitta employs a subordinating temporal construction with ܟܕ ('when [he] saw'), and the Vulgate likewise renders a temporal clause Cum...vidisset with pluperfect subjunctive. The three traditions thus express the same circumstantial action through different syntactic means.
