Greek παρήγγειλεν and Latin præcepit are finite verbs, while the Syriac ܘܦܩܕ (root p-q-d, cognate with Hebrew פָּקַד) carries the conjunction within the same prefixed form; the verb thus aligns to both the conjunction and verb slots of the other traditions.

Greek frames the prohibition with a ἵνα-clause + subjunctive (ἵνα μηδὲν αἴρωσιν); Latin renders this with ne + imperfect subjunctive (ne quid tollerent); Syriac uses the negated subordinator ܕܠܐ with the imperfect ܢܫܩܠܘܢ followed by ܡܕܡ ('anything'), a semantically equivalent but distinct subordinating construction.

The Greek exceptive construction εἰ μή ('except') is matched by Syriac ܐܠܐ ܐܢ (two particles), while Latin condenses it to the single conjunction nisi; functionally identical exceptive markers.

The Vulgate inserts a colon (:) here punctuating the list of prohibitions, an editorial feature of the Clementine edition without counterpart in the Greek or Syriac running text.

The Greek and Latin sequence the prohibited items as bread (ἄρτον / panem) then bag (πήραν / peram), but the Syriac inverts the order, listing ܬܪܡܠܐ ('bag', root r-m-l) before ܠܚܡܐ ('bread'); a transposition of the provision list peculiar to the Peshitta.

Owing to the Syriac inversion noted above, the second prohibited item is bread in the Peshitta (ܠܚܡܐ) but bag in the Greek (πήραν) and Latin (peram); the negation particles correspond but the lexemes are crossed relative to the other traditions.

Greek repeats the simple negation μή, Syriac uses the conjoined ܘܠܐ ('and not'), and Latin shifts to neque ('nor'); all serve the same negative-coordination function but reflect divergent connective styles.

Greek εἰς τὴν ζώνην (preposition + article + 'belt') and Latin in zona render a belt-purse, whereas Syriac ܒܟܝܣܝܗܘܢ (root k-s-y, 'in their purses') uses a single prefixed plural noun with possessive suffix, specifying purses rather than the belt itself and supplying a 3rd-plural pronominal subject not present in the others.

All three traditions name a base metal as the forbidden currency, but the lexemes differ: Greek χαλκόν ('copper/money'), Latin æs ('bronze'), and Syriac ܢܚܫܐ (root n-kh-sh, cognate with Hebrew נְחֹשֶׁת 'copper'); the Syriac noun precedes the purse-phrase, reversing the Greek/Latin order where the metal follows.
