Greek opens with the articular subject and the postpositive connective δέ (Ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς), a construction matched by Vulgate Jesus autem; the Peshitta places the verb first (ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ) with no connective particle, reflecting standard Syriac verb-initial clause order and the omission of the adversative δέ.

The Greek attests the unusual articular conditional τὸ εἰ ('the [matter of] "if"'), a quasi-quotation of the father's prior words and the harder NA28 reading; both the Peshitta (ܐܢ) and the Vulgate (Si) simplify to a plain conditional particle, dropping the substantivising article τό.

Greek neuter plural πάντα ('all things') and Latin omnia render the totality with a single substantivised word, whereas the Peshitta uses the analytic phrase ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ('every thing'), the standard Syriac idiom for the abstract 'everything.'

Greek predicate adjective δυνατά ('[are] possible') with implied copula is matched by Vulgate possibilia sunt; the Peshitta recasts this with the verb of possibility plus an infinitive of becoming, ܡܫܟܚ ܕܢܗܘܐ ('it is possible that it should come to be'), shifting from an adjectival predication to a verbal one.

Greek substantivises the participle with the dative article (τῷ πιστεύοντι, 'to the one believing'), as does the Latin participle credenti; the Peshitta employs a relative construction ܠܡܢ ܕܡܗܝܡܢ ('to whoever believes'), the customary Syriac equivalent of the Greek articular participle.
