Greek βλέπετε ('take heed') is rendered by the Syriac ܐܙܕܗܪܘ ('be on guard') and Latin videte; the Vulgate marks the imperatival clause boundary with an explicit colon (index 3), whereas Greek encodes it in the raised dot on βλέπετε· and Syriac leaves it unpunctuated. The semantic force is identical across all three.

Greek and Latin express the perfect 'I have foretold' with a single lexeme (προείρηκα / prædixi), the prefix προ-/præ- carrying the sense of anteriority. Syriac analytically decomposes this into two verbs, ܩܕܡܬ ('I anticipated', root q-d-m) plus ܐܡܪܬ ('I said', root a-m-r), a serial-verb construction characteristic of Aramaic for expressing 'to do beforehand'.
