The possessive pronoun 'his' is rendered as the independent genitive αὐτοῦ in Greek and the enclitic ejus in Latin, but is suffixed directly onto the noun (ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ, 'his disciples') in Syriac per its pronominal-suffix morphology.

Greek ἦλθον and Latin venerunt are finite verbs preceded by an independent conjunction, while Syriac fuses the connective and the verb into ܘܐܬܘ; the underlying aorist sense 'they came' is preserved across all three.

The Clementine Vulgate inserts a colon after civitatem, treating the following clause as a fresh syntactic unit and adding the conjunction et separately; Greek and the synthetic Syriac ܘܐܫܟܚܘ carry only the simple connective, so the divergence is one of punctuation and editorial articulation.

Greek εἶπεν is a simple aorist 'he said,' while Latin dixerat is pluperfect 'he had said,' subtly signalling anteriority; the Syriac ܕܐܡܪ uses the relative-prefixed perfect, agreeing with the Greek aspect rather than the Latin pluperfect refinement.
