Greek λέγω encodes the first-person subject morphologically in the verb; the Peshitta makes it explicit with an independent enclitic pronoun ܐܢܐ ('I') following ܐܡܪ, a routine Syriac construction for the participle-plus-pronoun present. Latin dico likewise carries the subject inflectionally without a separate pronoun.
