All three render the adversative connective (Greek postpositive δέ, Syriac ܕܝܢ, Latin At), but Latin fronts the conjunction At before the pronoun ille while Greek and Syriac place the particle in second position — a word-order difference reflecting native syntactic preference rather than a textual variant.

Greek καταλιπών and Syriac ܫܒܩ are aorist/perfective finite-aspect forms, whereas the Vulgate uses the perfect passive participle rejecta in an ablative absolute (sindone rejecta); the Latin construction recasts the active 'having left behind' as a passive circumstantial clause, a syntactic substitution preserving the sense.

Greek marks the linen cloth with the definite article (τὴν σινδόνα) and Latin sindone, like Greek, is a loan-cognate of σινδών; Syriac ܣܕܘܢܐ carries the determined emphatic state without a separate article, so the article's absence is morphological rather than substantive.

The prepositional phrase 'from them' (ἀπ᾽ αὐτῶν / ab eis) is present in both Greek and Latin but absent from the Peshitta, which ends with the predicate ܥܪܛܠ ('naked') and supplies no equivalent of the genitive pronoun; the Syriac thus abbreviates the clause, omitting the explicit reference to those from whom the young man fled.
