Greek ἐξάπινα ('suddenly') is rendered in the Peshitta by the prepositional idiom ܘܡܢ ܫܠܝܐ (literally 'from quietness/stillness,' i.e. 'suddenly, all at once'), a typical Syriac adverbial construction; the Vulgate statim ('immediately') is semantically close though it stresses immediacy over abruptness.

Greek uses a single aorist participle περιβλεψάμενοι ('having looked around'), matched by the Latin participle circumspicientes; the Peshitta unpacks it into a subordinate temporal clause ܟܕ ܚܪܘ ('when they looked'), a syntactic expansion rather than a semantic change.

The Peshitta supplies an explicit subject ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ('the disciples'), absent from both the Greek and the Vulgate, which leave the plural verb's subject implicit. This is a characteristic Syriac clarifying expansion.

Greek οὐκέτι ('no longer') combines negation with temporal sense; the Vulgate distributes this with amplius ('any more'), placed after neminem. The Peshitta lacks a discrete equivalent, its sense being absorbed into the simple negation ܠܐ.

Greek εἶδον and Latin viderunt express the negated verb 'they saw' with a single negated form, whereas the Peshitta renders it analytically with the negative particle ܠܐ plus the verb ܚܙܘ; the divergence is purely structural, the negation being lexically separate in Syriac.
