Greek piles up three adverbial expressions (πρωῒ ἔννυχα λίαν, 'very early, while still night') to stress the depth of the predawn hour; the Vulgate compresses these to diluculo valde ('very early at daybreak'), and the Peshitta to ܒܨܦܪܐ ܩܕܡ ('in the morning, before [dawn]'), each preserving the temporal sense but reducing the cumulative intensity of the Markan triple adverb.

The Greek aorist participle ἀναστὰς ('having risen') is rendered by the Vulgate participle surgens, while the Peshitta uses a finite verb ܩܡ ܛܒ ('he rose much/greatly'); note the Syriac ܛܒ ('much') here functionally absorbs the intensifier of the temporal cluster, reflecting the divergent distribution of the adverbial force across the verse.

Greek employs a double verb of motion joined by καί (ἐξῆλθεν καὶ ἀπῆλθεν, 'he went out and departed'), echoed by the Vulgate egressus abiit; the Peshitta condenses this to a single verb ܘܐܙܠ ('and he went'), dropping the redundant exit verb characteristic of Markan parataxis.
