Greek recitative ὅτι introduces direct speech; the Vulgate marks the same boundary with a colon plus Quia, the latter functioning as a calque of the recitative particle rather than a true causal conjunction. The Peshitta folds this function into the conditional particle below.

Greek ἐάν (with κἄν) and Latin si... vel correspond to the single Syriac concessive-conditional ܕܐܦܢ ('if even/although'), which fuses the recitative-relative ܕ, the concessive sense, and the conditional into one particle.

Greek uses the articular plural τῶν ἱματίων αὐτοῦ ('his garments'), idiomatic for clothing collectively, whereas both the Vulgate vestimentum ejus and the Syriac ܠܠܒܘܫܗ employ the singular ('his garment'), a typical Semitic and Latin collective rendering of the Greek plural.

Greek σωθήσομαι (future passive of σῴζω, 'I will be saved/healed') and Latin salva ero preserve the passive 'be saved'; the Peshitta ܚܝܐ ܐܢܐ uses the root kh-y-a ('to live, be made alive'), shifting the semantic field from rescue/healing toward life and vitality, a recurring Syriac lexical choice for salvation language.
