Vulgate conquirere

Greek συζητεῖν ('to dispute, debate') and Latin conquirere convey contentious questioning, whereas Syriac ܠܡܒܥܐ (root b-ʿ-a, 'to seek/inquire') is a milder lexical choice emphasising the act of requesting rather than disputation.

Vulgate quærentes

Greek and Latin use a present participle (ζητοῦντες / quærentes, 'seeking'); Syriac employs a periphrastic construction ܫܐܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ (active participle + enclitic ܗܘܘ) expressing durative past action, a characteristic Syriac substitute for the participial circumstantial clause.

Greek NT παρ᾽ (par᾽)
Peshitta ܠܗ
Vulgate ab illo

Greek παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ and Latin ab illo both render the prepositional 'from him' explicitly; Syriac contracts this to the dative-marking ܠܗ ('of/from him') governed by the verb of asking, omitting a separate ablative preposition.

Peshitta ܟܕ ܡܢܣܝܢ
Vulgate tentantes

Greek πειράζοντες and Latin tentantes use a bare circumstantial participle ('testing'); Syriac introduces the subordinator ܟܕ ('while') + participle ܡܢܣܝܢ, making the temporal-circumstantial relation explicit where Greek and Latin leave it implicit.
