Greek σύν and Latin cum are prepositions governing Moses ('Elijah with Moses'); the Peshitta instead coordinates the two names with the conjunction ܘ ('Elijah and Moses'), turning a comitative phrase into a simple coordination — a recurring Syriac stylistic preference.

Greek and Latin mark the second clause with the conjunction καί / et; the Vulgate additionally inserts a colon (token 6) before the conjunction, a Clementine editorial punctuation that segments the verse and has no counterpart in the Greek or Syriac.

Greek encodes the addressee with a dative article + name (τῷ Ἰησοῦ), expressing 'talking with Jesus'; both the Peshitta (ܥܡ ܝܫܘܥ) and Latin (cum Jesu) make the comitative explicit with a preposition, a more analytic rendering of the Greek dative of association.
