The Peshitta places the scourging clause (ܘܢܢܓܕܘܢܝܗܝ, 'and they will scourge him') immediately after the mocking, before the spitting, whereas Greek and Latin position the flogging (μαστιγώσουσιν / flagellabunt) after the spitting. This is a word-order transposition of the three abuse verbs.

Greek ἐμπτύσουσιν and Latin conspuent express 'spit upon' with a single verb governing a dative/accusative; the Peshitta uses ܘܢܪܩܘܢ ('they will spit') with a separate prepositional complement ܒܐܦܘܗܝ ('in his face'), an explicitating idiom typical of Syriac.

The Vulgate inserts a colon punctuation mark separating the catalogue of the Passion from the resurrection clause; neither the Greek nor the Syriac transmits an equivalent structural marker here, though the Greek comma after αὐτόν performs a lighter function.

Greek expresses the temporal phrase as μετὰ τρεῖς ἡμέρας ('after three days') with the preposition μετά governing the accusative, whereas Latin tertia die ('on the third day') and Peshitta ܘܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܬܠܬܐ ('and on the third day') both render an ordinal locative construction. The Greek 'after three days' is the harder reading and differs semantically from the 'on the third day' of the parallel Synoptic accounts.
