Greek employs an aorist participle (ἐλθοῦσα, 'having come') subordinating the action to the main verb; the Vulgate restructures this with a cum-clause plus pluperfect subjunctive (Cum venisset, 'when she had come'); the Peshitta uses a finite perfect verb (ܘܐܬܬ, 'and she came') coordinated rather than subordinated. The same temporal idea is conveyed by three distinct syntactic strategies.

Greek λεπτά denotes the smallest Greek bronze coin (the 'lepton'); the Vulgate minuta is a calque preserving the sense of 'tiny [coins]'; the Peshitta uses ܡܢܝܢ (from root m-n-y, 'to count/number'), a more generic term for reckoned coinage rather than naming the specific denomination.

Greek and Latin express the explanatory clause with a relative pronoun plus copula (ὅ ἐστιν / quod est, 'which is'); the Peshitta fuses pronoun and copula into a single enclitic form ܕܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ('which they are'), notably using a plural verb to agree with the two coins, whereas Greek and Latin treat the equivalence as a neuter singular abstraction.

Greek κοδράντης and Vulgate quadrans both name the Roman quadrans (one-quarter of an as), a direct loan equivalence; the Peshitta substitutes ܫܡܘܢܐ (shamona), an entirely different local monetary unit, localising the glossed value into a coinage familiar to its Syriac-speaking audience rather than transliterating the Roman term.
