Greek and Latin open with the coordinating conjunction καί/Et ('and'), whereas the Peshitta uses the postpositive adversative-connective particle ܕܝܢ ('but/and now'), which it places after the fronted adverb ܠܘܩܕܡ. The functional connective force is comparable, but the Syriac nuances the link as mildly contrastive.
