All three transmit the verb 'hear' (ἀκούσητε / ܕܫܡܥܬܘܢ / audieritis), but the Vulgate places the verb before the postpositive autem, whereas Greek and Syriac follow their respective particle-second word order; this is a stylistic Latin reordering with no semantic effect.

Greek ἀκοάς ('reports, rumours') is matched by Latin opiniones ('rumours, reports'); the Syriac ܛܒܐ (root T-w-b, 'tidings/news') is embedded in the conjoined ܘܛܒܐ and carries the same sense of secondhand report, though lexically it derives from a 'good news/tidings' base rather than the hearing-root used in Greek.

Greek πολέμων ('of wars') and Latin bellorum repeat the war-lexeme in the genitive; the Syriac ܕܩܐܪܣܐ employs a distinct root (q-r-s) yielding 'of battle/combat' rather than reduplicating the earlier ܩܪܒܐ, producing a stylistic lexical variation between the two halves of the phrase 'wars and rumours of wars'.

Greek θροεῖσθε ('be alarmed/disturbed') is rendered by Latin timueritis ('fear') and Syriac ܬܕܚܠܘܢ (likewise 'fear'); both versions substitute the general verb of fearing for the more specific Greek notion of being startled or thrown into commotion.

Greek expresses necessity with the impersonal δεῖ + aorist infinitive γενέσθαι; Latin parallels this with oportet … fieri; the Syriac uses the predicate-adjective construction ܥܬܝܕ ܗܘ ('it is destined/ready') plus the imperfect ܕܢܗܘܐ, a periphrastic Syriac idiom for inevitability rather than an impersonal verb of obligation.

The Vulgate supplies an explicit object hæc ('these things') as the subject of fieri; neither the Greek δεῖ … γενέσθαι nor the Syriac construction names an antecedent, leaving it implicit. The Latin pronoun is an exegetical clarification.

Greek and Latin use a single adverb of negated time (οὔπω / nondum, 'not yet'); the Syriac analyses this into two words ܠܐ ܥܕܟܝܠ ('not yet'), a standard Syriac periphrasis combining the negator with the temporal adverb.

Greek τὸ τέλος carries the definite article marking 'the end'; Latin finis is anarthrous (Latin lacking articles), and Syriac ܚܪܬܐ (root kh-r-th, cf. Heb. אַחֲרִית) likewise stands without an article, the determination being carried by context.

The Clementine Vulgate inserts colons after timueritis and after fieri, structuring the verse into three discrete clauses; the Greek uses a raised dot (·) only after θροεῖσθε, while the Syriac employs no internal punctuation here. These are editorial reading aids that do not alter sense.
