Greek αὐτά (neuter plural 'them') and Vulgate se (reflexive 'himself/themselves') represent the demons speaking collectively, whereas the Peshitta omits an explicit object pronoun, incorporating it as a third-masculine-plural suffix -ܝܘܗܝ on the verb ܢܫܕܪܝܘܗܝ. The Vulgate's reflexive se emphasizes the demons' self-reference more explicitly than the Greek neuter plural.

Greek uses the preposition ἔξω with genitive article τῆς χώρας ('out of the country'); Vulgate employs extra with accusative regionem; Syriac uses the compound prepositional phrase ܠܒܪ ܡܢ ܐܬܪܐ (ləḇar men ʾaṯrā, literally 'to outside from the region'), a characteristic Semitic construction combining directional and ablative elements.
