Greek opens with the articular subject Ὁ; the Vulgate renders this with the demonstrative pronoun ille ('he'), and the Peshitta with ܗܘ. All three mark the same anaphoric subject, but Greek uses the bare article substantivally while the versions employ explicit pronouns.
