Greek τῷ Πέτρῳ and Latin Petro give the Hellenised name 'Peter,' whereas the Peshitta reads ܒܫܡܥܘܢ ('Simon'), preserving the original Semitic name rather than the Greek translation of the Aramaic epithet Kephas; the Syriac also retains the preposition ܒ ('against') governing the object of rebuke.

Greek καὶ λέγει uses a coordinated finite present ('and he says'), the Vulgate subordinates with the participle dicens followed by a colon introducing direct speech, and the Peshitta employs the perfect ܘܐܡܪ ('and said')—an aspectual and syntactic difference in framing the quotation.

Greek ὕπαγε ('go away') and Latin Vade are single imperatives, but the Peshitta adds the ethic dative ܠܟ after ܙܠ (ܙܠ ܠܟ, 'go for yourself'), an idiomatic Semitic dativus ethicus with no equivalent in the Greek or Latin.

Greek ὅτι οὐ ('because not') and Latin quoniam non keep the causal particle and negation separate, whereas the Peshitta fuses them into ܕܠܐ (relative/causal ܕ plus the negative ܠܐ), covering the function of both Greek words in a single token.

Greek φρονεῖς ('you set your mind on') and Latin sapis ('you savour/discern') render a single synthetic verb, whereas the Peshitta uses the participle ܪܢܐ ('you think/ponder') with the explicit enclitic pronoun ܐܢܬ as obligatory subject marker in the participial construction.

Greek τὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ('the things of God') and Latin quæ Dei sunt use a substantivised article/relative with the genitive, while the Peshitta compresses to ܕܐܠܗܐ ('that of God') using the single relative-genitive particle ܕ; the verb sunt in Latin is supplied for the elliptical Greek.

Greek τὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων and Latin quæ sunt hominum render 'the things of men' with article/relative plus genitive plural, whereas the Peshitta ܕܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ uses the idiomatic construct chain 'sons of men' (bnay nasha), a Semitic periphrasis for humankind absent from the Greek and Latin.
