Greek expresses the imperfect with the single finite form ἦσαν; the Peshitta renders the verb 'to be' periphrastically with ܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܗܘܘ ('they were'), the characteristic Syriac compound past, while the Vulgate matches the Greek with a single imperfect Erant.

Greek and Latin use a substantivised participle alone (οἱ φαγόντες / qui manducaverunt, 'those who had eaten'); the Peshitta supplies an explicit head noun ܐܢܫܐ ('the people/men') before the relative ܕܐܟܠܘ, an idiomatic Syriac filler making the subject overt.

Greek encodes 'four thousand' in the single lexeme τετρακισχίλιοι, whereas both the Peshitta (ܐܪܒܥܐ ܐܠܦܝܢ) and the Vulgate (quatuor millia) analyse the numeral into 'four' + 'thousand(s)'; the difference is purely lexical-structural, not semantic.

The Clementine Vulgate inserts a colon here, marking the syntactic break before the following clause; the Greek uses a high point (·) within τετρακισχίλιοι· and the Peshitta has no overt punctuation token, so this stands as a Latin editorial pointing.

The closing clause 'and he dismissed them' (καὶ ἀπέλυσεν αὐτούς / et dimisit eos) is attested in both the Greek and the Vulgate but is wholly absent from the Peshitta witnesses supplied here, which end the verse at the numeral.
