Greek uses paratactic καί + finite verb (παραλαμβάνει), and the Vulgate mirrors this with Et + assumit; the Peshitta fuses the conjunction with the verb in a single form ܘܕܒܪ ('and he took'), a normal Syriac waw-prefixed construction.

Greek places μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ('with him') after the list of names, and Latin secum likewise follows; the Peshitta ܥܡܗ is placed immediately after the verb, before the names, reflecting a typical Syriac preference for early prepositional positioning.

Greek ἐκθαμβεῖσθαι ('to be greatly amazed/awe-struck') is rendered by Latin pavere ('to be terrified/dread') and Syriac ܠܡܬܟܡܪܘ (root k-m-r, 'to be saddened/downcast'); the three traditions emphasise different facets of distress, awe versus dread versus grief.

Greek ἀδημονεῖν ('to be deeply distressed/troubled') corresponds to Latin tædere ('to be weary/loathe') and Syriac ܘܠܡܬܬܥܩܘ ('to be in anguish/oppressed'); each version selects a cognate-distinct verb of inner turmoil, with the Latin tædere being the loosest equivalent.
