expansion Peshitta only
Peshitta ܝܫܘܥ

The Peshitta explicitly supplies the proper name ܝܫܘܥ ('Jesus') as the subject of the departure, whereas both the Greek and the Vulgate leave the subject implicit in the verb. This is a typical Syriac clarifying expansion to remove pronominal ambiguity.

Peshitta ܘܕܒܝܩ ܗܘܐ
Vulgate sequebatur

Greek ἠκολούθει and Latin sequebatur use a single imperfect verb 'was following'; Syriac employs the periphrastic ܕܒܝܩ ܗܘܐ (passive participle plus the auxiliary ܗܘܐ), a characteristic Syriac construction expressing durative past action.

Vulgate comprimebant

Greek συνέθλιβον and Latin comprimebant are single imperfect-tense verbs 'were pressing in'; the Syriac again uses a periphrastic ܚܒܨܝܢ ܗܘܘ (active participle plus the plural auxiliary ܗܘܘ) to convey the same durative, plural action of the crowd.
