Greek aorist participle ἀποστείλας ('having sent') is rendered in the Peshitta by a finite verb plus auxiliary ܫܕܪ ܗܘܐ (perfect with ܗܘܐ marking anterior/past action); the Vulgate uses a coordinate finite verb misit. Both versions resolve the Greek subordinating participle into a paratactic main clause, a typical translational shift.

Greek ἐκράτησεν stands alone as the main verb after the participle; both Peshitta (ܐܚܕܗ, with enclitic 3ms object suffix) and Vulgate (ac tenuit, adding the connective particle) coordinate the seizing with the sending. The Latin ac and the Syriac suffixed object reflect each language's preferred clause-linking strategy.

Greek expresses 'and bound him' with conjunction + verb + pronoun (καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτόν); the Peshitta compresses this into the single form ܘܐܣܪܗ (conjunctive waw + verb + 3ms object suffix), whereas the Vulgate retains the analytic et vinxit eum. The Syriac suffix-conjugation economy contrasts with the Greek and Latin pronominal periphrasis.

Greek causal ὅτι and Latin quia introduce the clause 'because he had married her'; the Peshitta uses the relative particle ܕ prefixed to the verb (ܕܢܣܒ), construing the clause attributively ('whom he had married') rather than causally. This is a genuine syntactic divergence in the logical relation of the clause.

Greek ἐγάμησεν (from γαμέω, 'to marry') is matched by Latin duxerat (literally 'had led [in marriage],' the idiomatic uxorem ducere). The Peshitta uses ܢܣܒ (root n-s-b, 'to take'), the standard Semitic idiom for taking a wife; the resumptive pronoun ܗܝ ('her') precedes the verb, reversing the Greek/Latin verb-object order.
