The Clementine Vulgate inserts a colon after the introductory formula factum est, marking the temporal clause as a discrete sense unit. Neither the Greek nor the Syriac transmit any such division here.

Greek uses the articular dative plural ταῖς ἡμέραις and Latin the ablative diebus; Syriac fuses the preposition ܒ- prefixally onto ܝܘܡܬܐ, expressing 'in the days' as a single inflected form, a typical Semitic synthesis.

Greek marks the genitive 'of Galilee' with the article τῆς Γαλιλαίας and Latin with the bare genitive Galilææ; Syriac prefixes the relative/genitive particle ܕ- onto ܓܠܝܠܐ, the standard Syriac means of expressing the construct relation.

All three render the passive 'was baptized', but Latin uses a periphrastic perfect passive baptizatus est (two words), the Greek a synthetic aorist passive ἐβαπτίσθη, and Syriac the prefixed reflexive-passive stem ܘܐܬܥܡܕ which also carries the preceding conjunction.

Greek places the locative εἰς τὸν Ἰορδάνην before the agent, and Syriac follows the same order with prefixed ܒ- in ܒܝܘܪܕܢܢ; the Vulgate inverts the sequence, placing in Jordane after the agent a Joanne, a stylistic Latin transposition. The Greek εἰς ('into') versus Latin/Syriac locative 'in' is a minor prepositional nuance.
