Greek uses the historic present λέγει ('says'), a vivid Markan stylistic feature; both Syriac ܘܐܡܪ and Latin dixit normalise to a past-tense ('and said' / 'said'), smoothing the narrative tense.

Greek ἐξήρανται is a perfect passive ('has been/stands dried up'), emphasising the resultant withered state; Syriac ܝܒܫܬ and Latin aruit are simple perfects/preterites ('it withered'), focusing on the completed action rather than the durative result.
