Greek ἀποκριθῶσιν is a deliberative aorist subjunctive of ἀποκρίνομαι ('they should answer'); the Vulgate responderent matches the verb of answering, but the Syriac ܢܐܡܪܘܢ (root a-m-r, 'they should say/speak') substitutes the general verb of speaking, a common Syriac flattening of the Greek 'answer/reply' lexeme.
