Greek uses the aorist participle ἐλθών ('having come'); the Vulgate renders it with a temporal clause cum venisset ('when he had come'), a routine Latin syntactic substitution for the Greek circumstantial participle. The Peshitta omits any equivalent of 'having come,' reducing the doubled motion of the Greek (ἐλθών … προσελθών) to a single verb of approach.

The Greek adverb εὐθύς ('immediately') is matched by Latin statim and by the Syriac idiomatic phrase ܒܪ ܫܥܬܗ (literally 'in the same hour, at once'), a standard periphrastic rendering of Markan εὐθύς in the Peshitta.

Greek and Syriac both express the verb of speaking plus a dative/lamadh pronoun ('he says to him' / ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ), whereas the Vulgate ait stands without an explicit indirect object and adds an introducing colon; the difference is stylistic, not semantic.

The Vulgate inserts the greeting Ave ('Hail') before Rabbi, a clear harmonisation toward the Matthean parallel χαῖρε, ῥαββί (Matt 26:49). Neither the Greek text of Mark nor the Peshitta transmits this salutation here.

Greek and Syriac repeat the address (ῥαββί ῥαββί / ܪܒܝ ܪܒܝ), an emphatic doubling characteristic of Mark's vivid style; the Vulgate reduces it to a single Rabbi, eliminating the iteration.

An editorial colon in the Clementine Vulgate marks the close of the direct address before the narrative resumes; it has no counterpart token in the Greek or Syriac and bears only on punctuation.

Greek κατεφίλησεν is the intensive/affectionate compound ('kissed earnestly, fervently'), whereas the Vulgate periphrastic osculatus est and the Syriac ܘܢܫܩ (root n-sh-q) render only the simple act of kissing, losing the intensifying prefix κατα-.
