Greek opens with paratactic Καὶ ('and'); the Vulgate uses the postpositive adversative-connective particle autem, while the Peshitta prefixes the proclitic conjunction ܘ- to the divine name (ܘܝܫܘܥ). The connective is rendered differently in each tradition though the discourse function is equivalent.

Greek supplies the article ὁ with Ἰησοῦς, a normal articular usage with personal names; neither Latin nor Syriac marks this article, the name standing bare in both, which is idiomatic for those languages.

Greek expresses 'his disciples' analytically with article + noun + genitive pronoun (τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ); Latin uses noun + possessive adjective (discipulis suis); Syriac fuses the possessive into a single inflected form ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ with pronominal suffix. The three constructions are semantically identical but morphologically distinct.

Greek marks the goal with πρός + accusative and the article (πρὸς τὴν θάλασσαν); the Vulgate uses ad mare without an article (Latin lacking one); the Peshitta employs the directional preposition ܠܘܬ with anarthrous ܝܡܐ. The article is preserved only in Greek.

The comma following θάλασσαν, in the Greek and the colon after mare in the Vulgate mark the clause boundary; the Peshitta carries no graphic punctuation here. The Latin colon reflects an editorial sense-pause introducing the crowd clause.

Greek πολὺ πλῆθος ('a great multitude') and Latin multa turba are adjective + neuter/feminine noun; the Peshitta combines the conjunction-prefixed noun ܘܥܡܐ ('and the people/crowd') with the attributive ܣܓܝܐܐ ('many'), placing the connective on the noun rather than before the clause. The sense is equivalent.

Greek ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας has the preposition plus article plus place-name; Latin a Galilæa and Syriac ܡܢ ܓܠܝܠܐ both omit the article (none existing in Latin, none used in Syriac proper-name phrases here).

Greek places ἠκολούθησεν αὐτῷ ('followed him') immediately after Galilee, before the mention of Judea; the Vulgate (secuta est eum) postpones the verb to the very end after both regions are named, matching its periphrastic perfect. The Peshitta uses the periphrastic ܢܩܦܗ ܗܘܐ ('was following him') and likewise positions it before Judea, but the Latin word-order diverges by deferring the verb.

Greek καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰουδαίας repeats the full preposition + article + name; the Vulgate compresses to et Judæa (sharing the earlier preposition a), and the Peshitta to ܘܡܢ ܝܗܘܕ with repeated ܡܢ but no article. The repeated article and second ἀπό in Greek are not matched in the daughter versions.
