Greek expresses the apodosis-introducing condition with εἰ δὲ μή ('but if not') and Latin with the adverb alioquin ('otherwise'); the Peshitta compresses this to a single subordinator ܕܠܐ ('lest/so that not'), recasting the elliptical Greek conditional as a purpose-style negative clause.

Greek piles up articles and the attributive adjective (ὁ οἶνος ὁ νέος, 'the wine, the new one'); both Latin (vinum) and Syriac (ܚܡܪܐ) drop the explicit 'new' qualifier here as redundant after its prior mention, a stylistic abbreviation in the apodosis.

Greek and Latin run 'and the wine is destroyed/poured out' (καὶ ὁ οἶνος ἀπόλλυται / et vinum effundetur); the Peshitta inverts the clause order, placing ܘܙܩܐ ܐܒܕܢ ('and the skins perish') before ܘܚܡܪܐ ܡܬܐܫܕ ('and the wine is spilled'), reversing the sequence of the two consequences.

Corresponding to the transposition above, the Greek/Latin clause καὶ οἱ ἀσκοὶ ἀπολοῦνται ('and the wineskins will perish') aligns with the Peshitta's ܘܚܡܪܐ ܡܬܐܫܕ ('and the wine is spilled'), which it has moved to the second position; the two traditions distribute the same two predicates in opposite order.

The Peshitta supplies an explicit verb ܪܡܝܢ ('they put', impersonal plural) at this point, whereas the Greek defers its verbal idea to the gerundive βλητέον at clause end; this anticipatory verb is a syntactic feature of Syriac and has no direct Greek counterpart in this position.

Greek distinguishes the qualitatively-new wine (νέον) from the freshly-made skins (καινούς, 'new/unused'); both Syriac (ܚܕܬܐ ... ܚܕܬܬܐ) and Latin (novum ... novos) use a single lexeme for both nouns, collapsing the Greek νέος/καινός contrast that the evangelist deliberately preserves.

Greek expresses necessity with the verbal adjective βλητέον ('must be put'), the only such gerundive form in the NT; Latin renders it periphrastically with mitti debet, while the Peshitta has already covered the verbal idea with the finite ܪܡܝܢ above, so no separate modal element corresponds.
