Greek ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν ('having looked up to heaven') and the Vulgate suscipiens in cælum render the gesture with participle plus prepositional phrase, whereas the Peshitta compresses this to ܘܚܪ ܒܫܡܝܐ ('and he looked at heaven'), using a finite verb and folding the directional sense into the preposition ܒ. The substance is identical; only the syntactic packaging differs.

Greek λέγει is a vivid historic present ('he says'), a Markan stylistic hallmark, while both the Peshitta perfect ܘܐܡܪ and the Vulgate ait render it as a simple past. The versions normalise the narrative tense, smoothing Mark's characteristic present.

The explanatory gloss ὅ ἐστιν διανοίχθητι ('which is, Be opened'), rendered in the Vulgate as quod est, Adaperire, is absent from the Peshitta. Since Syriac is itself an Aramaic dialect, the translation gloss intended for Greek/Latin readers is superfluous, and the single Peshitta verb ܐܬܦܬܚ below supplies the meaning directly.

The Peshitta gives only ܐܬܦܬܚ ('be opened'), the ethpʿel imperative of p-th-kh, which simultaneously functions as the spoken command and renders Jesus' word without need of a separate transliteration-plus-gloss. This collapses the Greek/Latin two-part structure (foreign word + translation) into one native term.
