Greek περιβλεψάμενος is an aorist middle participle ('having looked around on'); the Peshitta renders the action with a finite verb ܘܚܪ ('and he looked'), collapsing participle into a coordinated main verb. The Vulgate preserves the participial construction with circumspiciens.

Greek articulates the seated crowd with a substantival participle and the spatial adverb κύκλῳ ('sitting around him in a circle'); the Vulgate matches this fully with eos qui in circuitu ejus sedebant. The Peshitta employs a relative construction ܒܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܝܬܒܝܢ ܠܘܬܗ ('those who were sitting beside him') and omits any equivalent of κύκλῳ, losing the explicit 'in a circle' imagery.

Greek λέγει is a vivid historic present ('he says'); the Peshitta ܘܐܡܪ and Vulgate ait both render the verb as a coordinated/simple past, a routine flattening of the Marcan historic present. The Vulgate's colon (index 9) is editorial punctuation introducing direct speech.

Greek ἡ μήτηρ μου and Vulgate mater mea express 'my mother' analytically with a separate possessive; the Peshitta fuses the relation into the single inflected form ܐܡܝ with pronominal suffix, a normal Syriac morphological economy.

The Peshitta repeats the presentative particle ܗܐ ('behold') before ܐܚܝ ('my brothers'), yielding 'behold my mother and behold my brothers'; neither the Greek nor the Vulgate doubles the interjection, this being a characteristic Syriac rhetorical reinforcement. As with 'mother', the suffixed ܐܚܝ encodes 'my brothers' synthetically against the analytic ἀδελφοί μου / fratres mei.
