omission Greek NT only
Greek NT μὲν

The Greek correlative particle μέν (paired with δέ in the apodosis) has no equivalent in either the Peshitta or the Vulgate. Both Syriac and Latin lack a precise lexical counterpart for the μέν...δέ antithetical construction and render only the contrastive δέ side, a routine simplification.

Greek NT ἐν ὕδατι
Peshitta ܒܡܝܐ
Vulgate aqua

Greek and Latin express the means with a preposition phrase (ἐν ὕδατι) or bare instrumental ablative (aqua); Syriac fuses the proclitic preposition ܒ with ܡܝܐ into the single form ܒܡܝܐ ('in/with water'), a synthetic rendering of the same instrumental sense.

Greek NT ἐν πνεύματι
Peshitta ܒܪܘܚܐ
Vulgate Spiritu

Greek uses ἐν + dative (ἐν πνεύματι), Latin a bare instrumental ablative (Spiritu), and Syriac the prefixed-preposition form ܒܪܘܚܐ; the threefold variation is purely syntactic, all conveying the instrumental 'with/in [the] Spirit'.

Greek NT ἁγίῳ.¶
Peshitta ܕܩܘܕܫܐ
Vulgate Sancto

Greek ἁγίῳ is an attributive adjective agreeing with πνεύματι, and Latin Sancto likewise; the Syriac ܕܩܘܕܫܐ is a genitive construct ('Spirit of holiness'), a Semitic idiom expressing the qualitative attribute through annexation rather than concord. The Greek paragraph marker (¶) is editorial punctuation with no versional counterpart.
