Greek expresses 'pregnant women' with a full periphrastic idiom (ταῖς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσαις, lit. 'those having in the womb'), a classical Greek expression for pregnancy. Both Peshitta ܠܒܛܢܬܐ (from root b-T-n, 'belly/womb') and Vulgate prægnantibus collapse this into a single substantival participle/noun, a more economical idiomatic rendering.

Greek uses an articular substantival participle (ταῖς θηλαζούσαις, 'the nursing ones') and the Peshitta a relative clause ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܝܢܩܢ ('to those who nurse', root y-n-q), whereas the Vulgate employs a bare present participle nutrientibus; all three are semantically equivalent but differ in the syntactic packaging of the head and modifier.
