Greek οὕτως ('thus, in this manner') is matched by Latin sic, but the Peshitta has no corresponding adverb, compressing the rhetorical question and omitting the manner-marker entirely.

Greek βλασφημεῖ and Latin blasphemat are finite verbs ('he blasphemes'), whereas the Syriac ܓܘܕܦܐ (root g-d-p) is the cognate noun 'blasphemy', rendering the clause nominally ('[this is] blasphemy') rather than as a predicated verb.

Greek ἀφιέναι and Latin dimittere are bare complementary infinitives, while the Syriac ܠܡܫܒܩ (root sh-b-q) prefixes the infinitival particle l-, the standard Syriac means of marking the dependent infinitive after a modal verb.

Greek expresses the exceptive clause analytically with εἰ μή ('except'), and Syriac similarly uses ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ('except if'); the Vulgate compresses both particles into the single conjunction nisi.

Greek reads εἷς ὁ θεός ('one, [namely] God') with the cardinal 'one', and Syriac ܚܕ ܐܠܗܐ likewise preserves 'one God'; the Vulgate substitutes solus Deus ('God alone'), reading the numeral as an exclusive adverb. The trailing interrogative marks differ in placement but carry equivalent rhetorical force.
