Greek and Latin render 'going away' with a single accusative participle (ὑπάγοντας / abeuntes); Syriac unpacks it into a temporal-circumstantial clause ܟܕ ܐܙܠܝܢ ('while they were going'), an idiomatic Syriac construction expressing concurrent action.

Greek supplies the explicit subject οἱ ὄχλοι ('the crowds') with article, paired with the verb of seeing; the Vulgate omits an overt subject for viderunt and instead places multi later. The Syriac ܣܓܝܐܐ ('many') stands as the seeing subject early, restructuring the clause so that the same participants are introduced at a different syntactic point.

Greek αὐτόν ('him') and Syriac ܐܢܘܢ make the object explicit after the verb of recognition; the Vulgate cognoverunt multi leaves the object unexpressed, a permissible Latin ellipsis, hence no corresponding Latin token.

πολλοί ('many') functions as the subject of ἐπέγνωσαν in Greek and as multi in Latin; the Syriac has already deployed ܣܓܝܐܐ at the head of the verse as the subject of seeing, so the 'many' is positioned earlier and the predication is differently distributed across the clause.

Greek συνέδραμον ('they ran together', συντρέχω) and Latin concurrerunt preserve the prefixed 'together' nuance; the Syriac ܪܗܛܘ (root r-h-T, 'they ran') gives the simple verb of running without the comitative prefix, a minor lexical reduction.

Greek προῆλθον αὐτούς ('they went before them') and Latin prævenerunt eos preserve verb-plus-object; the Syriac collapses this into the prepositional ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ('before him'), redirecting the sense toward arriving ahead of Jesus rather than ahead of the disciples.

The final Greek clause καὶ συνῆλθον πρὸς αὐτόν ('and they came together to him') is absent from both the Vulgate and the Peshitta, which end the verse at the people arriving ahead; this longer Greek reading reflects a known textual expansion not transmitted in the Western and Syriac traditions here.
