The Peshitta supplies an explicit subject ܫܐܕܐ ܗܘ ('that demon/spirit'), making overt what the Greek and Latin leave implicit in the 3rd-person verb forms. This is an explanatory expansion characteristic of Syriac narrative style, clarifying the agent of the convulsion and departure.

Greek σπαράξας αὐτόν and Latin discerpens eum use participle plus accusative pronoun ('convulsing him'); the Peshitta condenses this into the single verb ܘܫܚܩܗ with an enclitic object suffix ('-and it crushed/wracked him'), again favouring a finite paratactic clause over the Greek participial construction.

Greek ἐξῆλθεν simply states 'it came out'; the Vulgate amplifies with the prepositional phrase ab eo ('out of him'), and the Peshitta renders the bare verb ܘܢܦܩ. The Latin addition makes the source of departure explicit, a harmonising clarification absent from the Greek and Syriac.

The Greek consecutive conjunction ὥστε ('so that') is rendered in the Vulgate by the doublet ita ut and in the Peshitta by ܐܝܟ ('as/so that'); all three express result, but Latin uses its standard correlative pairing while Syriac reuses the same particle ܐܝܟ that introduced the simile, a stylistic feature of Syriac result clauses.

Greek uses the present infinitive λέγειν dependent on ὥστε; the Vulgate employs an imperfect subjunctive dicerent in a result clause; the Peshitta uses an imperfect/future finite verb ܢܐܡܪܘܢ ('they would say'). Each language selects its idiomatic mood for indirect result, with no semantic divergence.

The Vulgate inserts a colon as direct-speech punctuation before the quoted clause, reflecting later editorial convention. Neither the Greek nor the unpointed Syriac transmits such a mark here.

Greek ἀπέθανεν and Latin mortuus est state 'he died/is dead'; the Peshitta ܕܡܝܬ ܠܗ adds the ethical dative ܠܗ ('he died, for himself / to him'), a common Syriac idiom intensifying the completed state of the subject with no change in meaning.
