Greek ἐγένετο (aorist of γίνομαι) and Latin facta est align as the inceptive verb; Syriac ܘܗܘܬ fuses the conjunction and verb into a single form, hence its index is shared with the first group. The Syriac then redundantly supplies a second ܗܘܬ (idx 3) within the participial clause, a characteristic periphrastic expansion.

Greek uses a single present participle ἐπισκιάζουσα ('overshadowing') matched by Latin obumbrans; Syriac renders this with a periphrastic construction ܘܡܛܠܐ ܗܘܬ (active participle plus auxiliary 'was'), a typical Syriac analytic equivalent for the Greek participial attribution.

The Clementine Vulgate inserts a colon after eos, marking the clause boundary before the second et; neither the Greek nor the Syriac transmit a corresponding punctuation token here, this being an editorial feature of the Latin tradition.

The conjunction is present in all three (καὶ / ܘ- prefixed on ܩܠܐ / et); in Syriac it is orthographically fused to the noun 'voice', so the index is shared with the following noun group.

Greek repeats ἐγένετο ('there was/came') for the voice, and Latin matches with venit ('came'); the Syriac omits any second 'came/was' verb, simply juxtaposing 'and a voice from the cloud', an economical construction lacking the Greek's doubled verb.

The Vulgate places a colon after dicens to introduce direct speech; this oratio recta marker has no token-level counterpart in the Greek (which uses a raised dot) or in the Syriac.

Greek uses article plus noun plus genitive pronoun (ὁ υἱός μου), Latin Filius meus; Syriac contracts 'my son' into the single suffixed form ܒܪܝ, the possessive being expressed by the pronominal suffix rather than a separate word.

The first-person possessive μου / meus is rendered in Syriac by the pronominal suffix on ܒܪܝ rather than an independent token, hence its index coincides with the noun group.

Greek ὁ ἀγαπητός ('the beloved') with the attributive article matches Syriac ܚܒܝܒܐ; the Latin carissimus ('most dear/dearest') is a superlative rendering of the verbal adjective ἀγαπητός, a recurrent Vulgate choice that slightly intensifies the simple 'beloved'.

A colon follows carissimus in the Clementine text, separating the predicate clause from the imperative; no equivalent punctuation token exists in the Greek or Syriac witnesses.

Greek and Latin place the object pronoun after the imperative (ἀκούετε αὐτοῦ / audite illum); Syriac fronts the dative ܠܗ before the imperative ܫܡܥܘ, a word-order divergence reflecting Syriac's tolerance for preposed pronominal objects. Greek ἀκούω governs the genitive αὐτοῦ ('listen to him'), whereas Latin uses the accusative illum.
