Greek τὸ σημεῖον ('the sign') is an articular nominative left as a verbless predicate; the Vulgate supplies an explicit future copula erit ('will be the sign'), while the Peshitta renders the noun as ܐܬܐ ('sign') without article or copula. The verb-supply in Latin is an interpretive expansion of an elliptical Greek nominal clause.

Greek uses μέλλῃ + present infinitive συντελεῖσθαι ('may be about to be accomplished'), and the Vulgate matches this periphrastic future with incipient consummari ('shall begin to be completed'). The Peshitta restructures with ܕܩܪܝܒܢ ('that are near/imminent') governing the infinitive ܠܡܫܬܠܡܘ ('to be fulfilled'), expressing imminence adjectivally rather than through a 'be about to' auxiliary.

The Vulgate marks the first question explicitly with an interrogative '?' after fient, and the Greek similarly closes the whole compound question with the high-point and terminal ';' (=question mark); the Peshitta carries no punctuation tokens, leaving the interrogative force to be inferred from the interrogative particles ܐܡܬܝ and ܘܡܢܐ.
