Greek and Latin both retain the participial idiom 'answering' (ἀποκριθείς / respondens); the Peshitta omits this Semitising participle entirely, rendering the verse with a single finite verb ܘܐܡܪ ('and said'). This is a routine simplification of the redundant Greek 'answering... says' construction.

Greek uses the historic present λέγει ('says'), characteristic of Markan narrative style; the Peshitta ܘܐܡܪ and Latin ait both render with a simple past, smoothing the vivid present tense into ordinary narrative aorist/perfect.

The Greek carries the nominative article ὁ before Πέτρος; Syriac ܟܐܦܐ ('Kepha', the Aramaic original of the surname) and the Latin anarthrous Petrus lack it. The Peshitta notably preserves the underlying Semitic name rather than transliterating the Greek.

Greek and Latin express the indirect object analytically (τῷ Ἰησοῦ / Jesu, dative of the named addressee); the Peshitta uses only the proleptic pronoun ܠܗ ('to him') here and names Jesus implicitly, a typical Syriac economy of the dative phrase.

Greek and Latin use the infinitive in an impersonal construction (εἶναι / esse, 'for us to be here'); Syriac ܢܗܘܐ employs a finite imperfect verb ('that we should be'), a syntactic recasting of the Greek articular/infinitival idiom into a Semitic subordinate clause.
