EN When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”

Greek prefaces the vocative with the article ὁ υἱὲ Δαυίδ; the Peshitta uses the bound construct ܒܪܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ('son of David') with the resumptive 3ms suffix typical of Syriac genitive periphrasis; the Vulgate gives the plain vocative fili David. The Greek and Latin place 'Son of David' before the name 'Jesus', whereas usage of the vocative ordering varies — see next group.
