Greek and Latin use a single adverb (ἐκεῖθεν / inde, 'from there'); the Syriac analytically renders the notion with preposition plus locative adverb ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ('from there'), an idiomatic two-word equivalent. The Syriac also reorders the elements, placing the verb 'arose' before the locative phrase.

Greek ἀναστάς and Latin exsurgens are aorist/present participles ('having risen'), whereas the Syriac ܘܩܡ ('and he arose') is a finite verb coordinated with the following clause by waw. The participial subordination of Greek and Latin becomes paratactic coordination in Syriac. (The Syriac index 0 also carries the connective 'and' answering Greek Καί.)

Greek has a coordinated articular construction καὶ τοῦ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου ('and of the region beyond the Jordan'); Latin reduces this to the simple preposition ultra ('beyond') without the connective 'and'; Syriac likewise drops the coordinating conjunction and renders ܠܥܒܪܐ ('to the crossing/region across'), so both versions omit the Greek καί joining the two territories.

The proper name Jordan is common to all three; the Vulgate adds a colon (index 9) marking the clause boundary, a versional punctuation feature absent from the Greek and Syriac word-stream.

Greek συμπορεύονται and Latin conveniunt are single verbs ('come/gather together'); the Syriac ܘܐܙܠܘ ('and they went') is a finite verb of motion of different lexical character, expressing the crowds' going to him rather than gathering. The Syriac index 8 simultaneously supplies the connective and the verb.

The adverb 'again' (πάλιν / iterum / ܬܘܒ) is present in all three but the Syriac places it much later in the clause, after the teaching verb, reflecting Syriac preference for end-weighted adverbial placement rather than the early position of Greek and Latin.

Greek ὄχλοι and Latin turbæ are plural ('crowds'); the Syriac renders ܟܢܫܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ('a great/numerous crowd'), using a singular collective noun qualified by the adjective 'many', a characteristic Syriac idiom for large gatherings.

The Syriac adds an explicit locative ܠܬܡܢ ('to there') after the verb of motion, reinforcing the destination of the crowds; this resumptive adverb has no counterpart in the Greek or Latin and serves Syriac narrative clarity.

Greek πρὸς αὐτόν and Latin ad eum ('to him') are matched by the single Syriac suffixed form ܠܘܬܗ ('unto him'). The Vulgate again inserts a colon (index 16) at the clause break, a versional punctuation marker without Greek or Syriac equivalent.

Greek εἰώθει (pluperfect 'had been accustomed') and Latin consueverat (pluperfect) express habitual past with a single verb; the Syriac uses an analytic construction ܕܡܥܕ ܗܘܐ (participle 'is accustomed' + the enclitic past auxiliary ܗܘܐ 'was'), the standard Syriac periphrasis for past customary action.

This second πάλιν / iterum ('again') qualifying the teaching is present in Greek and Latin in its expected position before the verb; the Syriac collapses both occurrences of 'again' into the single ܬܘܒ already aligned, leaving no separate Syriac token here, so the repetition is not reproduced in the Peshitta.

Greek ἐδίδασκεν (imperfect 'was teaching') and Latin docebat (imperfect) render durative past with a finite verb; the Syriac ܘܡܠܦ ܗܘܐ employs the participle 'teaching' plus the past auxiliary ܗܘܐ, the regular Syriac periphrastic imperfect denoting ongoing past action.
